Invariant Subspaces, Quasi-invariant Subspaces, and Hankel Operators

In this paper, using the theory of Hilbert modules we study invariant subspaces of the Bergman spaces on bounded symmetric domains and quasi-invariant sub-spaces of the Segal–Bargmann spaces. We completely characterize small Hankel operators with finite rank on these spaces.

Hankel operators and invariant subspaces of the Dirichlet space

The Dirichlet space D is the space of all analytic functions f on the open unit disc D such that f ′ is square integrable with respect to two-dimensional Lebesgue measure. In this paper we prove that the invariant subspaces of the Dirichlet shift are in 1-1 correspondence with the kernels of the Dirichlet-Hankel operators. We then apply this result to obtain information about the invariant subs...

Approximate invariant subspaces and quasi-newton optimization methods

New approximate secant equations are shown to result from the knowledge of (problem dependent) invariant subspace information, which in turn suggests improvements in quasi-Newton methods for unconstrained minimization. A new limitedmemory BFGS using approximate secant equations is then derived and its encouraging behaviour illustrated on a small collection of multilevel optimization examples. T...

Invariant Subspaces of the Monodromy

We show that there are obstructions to the existence of certain types of invariant subspaces of the Milnor monodromy; this places restrictions on the cohomology of Milnor fibres of non-isolated hypersurface singularities.

Perturbation of invariant subspaces ∗

We consider two different theoretical approaches for the problem of the perturbation of invariant subspaces. The first approach belongs to the standard theory. In that approach the bounds for the norm of the perturbation of the projector are proportional to the norm of perturbation matrix, and inversely proportional to the distance between the corresponding eigenvalues and the rest of the spect...
